Sets how the video is encoded. "Auto" suits most conversions. "Copy" reuses the video as-is, so it is fast and keeps full quality, but only when the output format supports it.

Choose how the video is resized: to a set resolution, or to a different aspect ratio, where the video's width is kept and the height is recalculated to match. Select "No change" to keep the original size.

Sets how many frames per second the output video has. Lowering it reduces file size but makes motion less smooth, and raising it above the source frame rate won't add smoothness. "No change" keeps the source frame rate.

Raw audio is uncompressed pulse-code modulation (PCM) sound stored with no header at all — just a continuous stream of sample values. Because the file carries no description of itself, the sample rate, bit depth, channel count, and byte order have to be supplied by whoever opens it. That makes raw audio awkward to share but very useful in audio programming, embedded devices, and recovery work, where a plain stream of samples is exactly what is needed.

 

How to open a raw audio file?

The standard tool is Audacity. Use File → Import → Raw Data, then set the encoding, sample rate, and channels to match the file.

 

If you do not know the correct settings, start with 16-bit signed PCM, 44,100 Hz, stereo, and adjust until the audio sounds normal — wrong settings usually produce noise or a chipmunk-like pitch. Command-line users can play or convert raw audio with FFmpeg or SoX. Converting to a self-describing format such as WAV or MP3 saves you from repeating the guesswork. WebM (WEBM) is a freely-licensed file container designed for the Web. Specifically, it was designed to be compatible with HTML5, originally. It supports chapters, captions, subtitles, metadata tags, streaming, attachments, 3D codecs, 3D containers, and hardware players. WEBM compresses video streams with VP8 or VP9 codecs, and audio with Vorbis or Opus codecs.

 

How to open a WEBM file?

VLC media player and MPlayer can open WEBM files on any operating system (OS). Other good choices for opening WEBM include Winamp for Microsoft Windows OS, and Elmedia for Mac OS X.

 

Microsoft browsers do not have built-in WebM codecs. Therefore, install the codecs separately. However, most browsers support WEBM files.
