Raw audio is uncompressed pulse-code modulation (PCM) sound stored with no header at all — just a continuous stream of sample values. Because the file carries no description of itself, the sample rate, bit depth, channel count, and byte order have to be supplied by whoever opens it. That makes raw audio awkward to share but very useful in audio programming, embedded devices, and recovery work, where a plain stream of samples is exactly what is needed.
The standard tool is Audacity. Use File → Import → Raw Data, then set the encoding, sample rate, and channels to match the file.
If you do not know the correct settings, start with 16-bit signed PCM, 44,100 Hz, stereo, and adjust until the audio sounds normal — wrong settings usually produce noise or a chipmunk-like pitch. Command-line users can play or convert raw audio with FFmpeg or SoX. Converting to a self-describing format such as WAV or MP3 saves you from repeating the guesswork. You can also convert the file with our RAW to WAV tool.

Android Audio is an MP3 file encoded for Android phones and tablets. MP3 is the safest possible choice for the platform: every Android device made in the last two decades plays it, regardless of manufacturer or version, and the compression keeps file sizes small enough to store hundreds of tracks on a phone. Song title, artist, and album art travel with the file as ID3 tags.
Copy the file to your device over USB, Bluetooth, or a cloud service, then tap it. Android plays MP3 in Google Files, YouTube Music, or whichever music app came with the phone.
If a track does not show up in your music library, the media scanner may not have indexed it yet — restarting the device usually fixes this. Apps such as VLC for Android and Poweramp play files from any folder directly. The same MP3 also plays on any computer, browser, or car stereo. Our audio converter can re-encode a track for a different device or format.
