Ogg Vorbis Audio (OGA) is a multimedia container and compression file format for audio files. The name represents the basic functionality of OGA, as “Ogg” is the name of the container while “Vorbis” is the name of the compression mechanism. OGA is free, open-source, and unpatented.

How to open an OGA file?

VLC media player is the best choice for opening OGA files. Other programs that can open OGA files include Winamp and Xine.

OGA can open in Windows Media Player and DirectShow-based players, but only with the use of a DirectShow filter. However, if the player is not based on DirectShow, then the filter is not necessary.

iPod Audio is an M4A file encoded for Apple iPod players, using AAC audio in an MPEG-4 container. This is the format the iTunes Store sold music in for years, chosen because AAC gives better sound than MP3 at the same file size — a real advantage on a device with limited storage. Track titles, artist names, and album artwork are all carried inside the file.

How to open an iPod Audio file?

Add the file to your library in iTunes or the Apple Music app, then sync the iPod. It appears in the device’s music library ready to play.

On a computer the same M4A plays in iTunes, VLC media player, Windows Media Player, and foobar2000. Very early iPod models and most non-Apple players expect MP3 instead, so convert the file with our M4A to MP3 tool if it will not appear on the device.
