What is an ODD (OpenDocument Drawing) file?

OpenDocument Drawing (ODD) is a graphics document from the OpenDocument family, the open standard used by LibreOffice and Apache OpenOffice. The file is a ZIP package containing XML that describes shapes, lines, text boxes, and any embedded bitmaps, so the artwork stays editable and scales without losing quality. Note that the standard extension for OpenDocument drawings is .odg, and .odd files are usually the same kind of drawing document.

How to open an ODD file?

The natural application is LibreOffice Draw, which reads the whole OpenDocument family. Apache OpenOffice Draw works equally well.

If the file will not load, try renaming it to .odg first — that is the extension LibreOffice expects for a drawing. Other options include Inkscape, which imports OpenDocument drawings, and Google Drive, which can preview many OpenDocument files in the browser.
