Material eXchange Format (MXF) is a professional video container standardised by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) for broadcast and film production. An MXF file wraps video, multiple audio tracks, timecode, subtitles, and rich metadata into a single package that moves cleanly between editing systems and playout servers. It is codec-agnostic, so the picture inside may be XDCAM, DNxHD, AVC-Intra, or another professional codec.
For simple playback, VLC media player handles most MXF files.
MXF is really an editing format, and professional applications support it natively: Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro all import it. Since MXF files are large and rarely play on consumer devices, convert them for everyday use with our MXF to MP4 tool.

Mobile Video is an MP4 file encoded with smartphones and tablets in mind, combining H.264 video with AAC audio at a modest resolution and bitrate. The goal is a file that plays smoothly on almost any handset regardless of make or operating system, downloads quickly over a cellular connection, and takes up little storage — useful when you need one clip that works everywhere.
On a phone, simply tap the file. Both Android and iOS play MP4 natively through their built-in gallery, Photos, or Files apps.
If playback fails on an older device, VLC for Android or MX Player will handle it. On a computer the same file opens in VLC media player, QuickTime, or Windows Media Player, and every modern web browser can play it directly in a page. Our video converter can re-encode a clip for a different device or format.
