Sony Alpha Raw (ARW) is the proprietary RAW file format for Sony digital cameras. It is also known as Sony Digital Camera RAW file. ARW is an uncompressed, unprocessed image file, which contains all of the file’s information, as captured by the sensor in the camera that captured the image. Since the file is not compressed, no data is lost, which is the main benefit of ARW and all RAW file types.
Sony provides the Sony® RAW Driver as the default program for opening an ARW file. It will allow you to view an ARW file on a Microsoft Windows operating system (OS) as you would a JPEG. Adobe Photoshop is another program that is commonly used to open ARW.
On Linux/Unix, use the open-source program darktable to view ARW. Across platforms, use XnView MP. ARW is often converted to JPEG (ARW to JPG) after post-processing edits.

PostScript (PS) is a page description language created by Adobe that tells a printer exactly how to draw each page — the position of every character, line, and image — rather than storing the page as a picture. Because the description is resolution-independent, the same file prints crisply on a cheap office printer or a professional typesetter. PostScript revolutionised desktop publishing in the 1980s and is the direct ancestor of PDF.
The standard tool is Ghostscript, a PostScript interpreter, usually paired with a viewer such as GSview or the built-in viewers on Linux.
On Linux, Evince and Okular open PS directly. macOS dropped native PostScript support after Mojave, so Ghostscript is needed there too. Since almost nothing outside printing workflows reads PS any more, converting it is usually the quickest solution — try our PS to PDF tool.
